Worship at First Mennonite

Worship at First Mennonite is designed to bring worshippers into the presence of God.  The style is a relaxed blend of traditional and contemporary.  Clothing ranges from casual to semi-formal.  Greeters and ushers welcome worshippers and make sure they are comfortably seated.

Music plays an important part in worship.  Some Sundays feature an opening time of praise led by a contemporary worship team.  Four-part a capella singing is strong at First Mennonite Church, but instruments such as piano and organ are used as called for.  A wide variety of persons offer their special gifts with solos and groups for preludes, offertories, postludes, and special music.  A seasonal choir is formed at Christmas and Easter.

Children are very much welcomed in the worship service.  Children's bulletins are provided and most Sundays feature a children's story.

Preaching is a central part of the worship service and always preceded by a theme text from the Bible.  The focus of the preaching is making God's Word relevant for contemporary life experiences.

A special feature towards the end of the service is a time of Sharing, Praise, and Prayer.  Here is an opportunity for the congregation to welcome visitors, share highlights of their faith journey and lift each other up in prayer for particular concerns.

Visitors are always welcome at First Mennonite Church.  We are growing in our awareness of what it means to be a church for others.  Come join us in our "Journey with Jesus!"
