This year the Peace Event Planning Committee (made up of represent-atives from Bonneyville Mennonite Church, First Mennonite Church, Forks Mennonite Church and Middlebury Church of the Brethren) is sponsoring a peace essay contest for all of the students at Northridge High School or students in the Middlebury school district who are being home schooled. This is to promote an interest and understanding of peace among high school youth. The winner will receive $500 which we would like to encourage him or her to use toward college or a service oppor-tunity. To r aise money for this, we will be having a Nelson's Golden Glow chicken BBQ sale at the Middlebury park on Saturday, Sept. 11, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Linford will have tickets this morning. We hope that you will be supportive of this effort.

The Food Pantry is in need of empty laundry detergent bottles . A local group has begun donating five-gallon buckets of Tide laundry soap and we are having trouble coming up with enough containers so that we can distribute the detergent in smaller amounts .
